little sneak peak of sam

sweet baby sam . . .

i'm pretty sure that's what his mama is going to call him.
sam was the sweetest little babe. his belly was full. and his brother  just thought the world of him when he was getting his picture taken.
sam will soon learn that he has two older brothers that will probably keep him in line.
loved this sweet babe . . .

matt and lora

last night was a perfect evening. a michigan evening that was not too cold, not hot by any means, but just right. matt and laura are engaged and going to get married in october. TAK Photography will be photographing their wedding. theresa was kind enough to let me come along and get to know matt and lora. what a great couple. they have character bursting from the seems. they are very fun and humorous couple to be around. their wit was very contagious. matt would make a comment and lora would finish it with a line from either a book, song, or movie, which then the two of them would just start to giggle.
i think that their wedding will be filled with laughter and fun.
thanks for letting me tag along last night for some gut belly laughs.

". . . in the meantime shoot, shoot, shoot . . . clay pots."

. . . and in the meantime, life gets crazy . . .  there's always that load of laundry that needs attention, the paper for class that needs to be written, the diapers that need to be changed, the groceries that need to be bought and stacked in the pantry, and life gets crazy.

i thought that i would be able to keep blog everyday, especially when there was a challenge to do so. not so!  . . . and in the meantime, life gets crazy . . .

i have been doing a lot of thinking about the workshop that i attended in march with kamee june. she was giving all these great examples of things that we should know  ". . . how to compose and image, use a different lens, try experimenting with lighting, techniques, color, design, and your post processes.
but in the meantime . . . shoot, shoot shoot . . . 'clay pots'."  in order to get better at anything you do you have to practice. like, remember when you were first learning to ride your bike without training wheels, or learn a musical instrument in fifth grade, practice is the key . . .  it makes it permanent. you learn from your mistakes . . . it's the process . . .

i'm so desperately waiting for spring to arrive. the robins have migrated back, and the blooms are beginning to bloom, and in the meantime . . .  shoot, shoot, shoot . . .

reuse, recycle, and reduce . . .

this is going to be one of those destination places that you will want to check out in downtown phoenix, arizona.  when i was there last week, my husband introduced me to steve. steve and tim have been working on construction of this old warehouse that is downtown.
steve has taken old reclaimed barn wood from iowa to make tables and a dance floor. he has saved an old bar from a restaurant in downtown chicago. has invested in old military uniforms and is having girls add vintage buttons and beads to them. the kitchen for his place is an old 1950's airstream camper. steve also has an old school bus parked in the back ready to go and pick up any one that needs a ride to his place. WOW the vision that this guys has. cannot wait to go back a have an old chicago "hot dog" at his new place . . .

arizona here i come!

last week wednesday i boarded the plan with my husband to head out to arizona. the trip was two-fold. first, tim was going to be checking out his employee that lives in surprise, az and also making some contacts with some architects. second, i was going to be doing a photography workshop with kamee june. i  just love her work.
i attended her workshop on saturday. i must say she was full of inspiration for me. i have been following her now for a little more than a year. here are some workshop photos:
