senior session :: caira

caira is a senior at east kentwood high school. 

her last year!!! she told me that she was so excited to almost be done with high school.  

her plans for when she graduates is to attend georgia state university.

i was so excited that when she called me in september to do her session in december i was thrilled . . .  december means SNOW!!! well we have just a little snow.

driving around i wanted to find a few new places . . . found some . . .  

caira was really brave . . . she was willing to get "chilly" for some of her photos. you rock!

senior session :: maxine

 for the most part, being a teacher has always been rewarding . . . 

and maxine was one of those rewarding students . . . i first met maxine when she was in middle school . . . you remember those days don't you? . . .  the drama . . . the teen-age angst . . . the BOYS . . . the homework . . . you want to be treated like a grown-up, yet you don't really have all the experience and strategies. 

yet, there was something in the middle school wing that drew my attention to maxine . . . i love the fact that she was kind, considerate, and respectful. she always wanted to help those who needed that extra help. a good characteristic to have.

 . . .  fast forward  . . . to senior year of high school . . . 

maxine is an ambitious young lady . . . she loves science.  her future plans are to go to western michigan and pursue something in the medical field . . . a pediatrician. she will be great at that position.

maxine thanks for a wonderful evening and running all around town with me . . . remember lunch soon?

senior session :: parker

when i met parker at ada park, i knew that i was in for a real interesting evening . . .  let's just say that i love meeting high school students and finding out all the many faucets that they are involved in. parker was no exception to this rule.

immediately . . . he ran over to the playground equipment . . . yes, that's right the playground.  my thoughts . . . fun, exciting, no fear!

parker attends forest hills central high school . . . and as usual i go through my litany of questions . . . you know them . . .

spent most of the night laughing . . . thanks to parker.

"where are you thinking about going to college?"

"what are you interested in?"

"what classes are you taking now?"

and then one to really through them off . . . "what's your favorite color?"

believe it or not i can tell so much from a person by the color that they tell me . . . 

"green" was parkers response . . . 

parker must have a tons of friends . . .  interested in things like AP environmental science . . . he like soils . . .  which might even mean that he's a tree hugger . . . right parker?

parker with his quick wit made for a super fun senior session. 

with all joking aside . . . parker is thinking about going to ferris state college and looking into film. 

good luck with your last year! and heavens . . . don't ever loose that quick wit of yours.

senior session :: chloe

i met chloe through theresa who let me tag along with her senior session.  thanks for letting me tag along. good luck as you finish your last year at northpointe christian high school. 

senior session :: janna

janna . . . is a very quiet and  beautiful  senior that i worked with last tuesday night . . .

you know living in michigan that weather can be so very unpredictable . . . one minute the sun can be shinning and the next it could be rainy or snowing.

tuesday  . . . was one of those nights . . .  the weather man had predicted rain for the entire day . . . so i was prepared that our shoot might have to get rescheduled . . . lucky for us the sun came out in the beginning of our shoot and then later,  it was a little cloudy . . . but by the time i was trying to download all the photos from the night  . . . mighty winds were howling . . . and the lights began to flicker . . . then lost power for two days.

janna goes to forest hills  high school . . . her good friends are katelyn and bethany . . . even though two go to the same school the three of them are like the three musketeers . . . although janna did inform me that it's not always easy when one friend goes to a different school. i think that meant that she just wished that they all were at the same school . . .  and they do find time to "hang together."

when i asked janna what type of classes she was taking, her response was . . .  "hard ones."

"oh, okay AP classes"

"yep"

"how do you like those?"

"HUM . . . they are okay."

"well,  are there any classes that you are taking for fun?"

"yep, drawing and painting."

(now those are the classes that i took my last year of high school . . . the fun ones . . . the ones that i had a passion for . . .)

we had such a fun night . . . at one of the spots where i like to shoot . . . there was a  train that  went by . . . now how often do you have the train go through your senior session? exciting!

at another point in the evening . . . i gave her instructions that i wanted her to go sit in the road . . . "really?"

"yep"
